Newbridge Road School Holds Annual Field Day
From juggling fun to a Chicken Tag run, students enjoy a fun-filled day.
Hundreds of students could be seen jumping, dancing and smiling in the playground at Newbridge Road School's Annual Field Day yesterday. Students were divided up by grade and donned color-coordinated Newbridge Road t-shirts to show their school pride.
The day was divided into various events including Chicken Tag, Tug of Fun and Cone Toss. There was also a DJ, Bellmore parent Mr. Ulmschneider who donated his time and blasted tunes for all to enjoy.
Coach Mike Weiner organized the day's activities, creating different sporting events the students competed in. The PTA held fundraisers to help pay for cotton candy, drinks, ices, entertainment and inflatable rides.

Parents also took part in Field Day, as they stood near each field day station and helped students with each event. Teachers assisted their classes by moving children from one station to another. Weiner said Field Day was about "promoting lifelong fitness" and that it was "a day to celebrate outside with parents, teachers and students."
Students also practiced various sports in gym class over the past few weeks.

"I set up all the games, taught them to the students and they were able to practice in preparation for today's events," Weiner explained. "Students were also involved in selecting the events."
At the budget vote that occurred in May, there was a booth set up for students to vote on a new game to be introduced to Field Day. This was a chance to give students a voice in how they wanted to participate in their fun-filled day.
The day concluded with a show from jugglers, the Gizmo Guys. Students were entranced as the jugglers performed all sorts of difficult tricks. From the smiles on the kids faces and the laughs that could be heard along Newbridge Road, this year's Field Day was another success.
