North Bellmore Schools Celebrate Halloween

John Dinkelmeyer and Park Avenue students had a blast at their fall festivals.

Halloween came early in the North Bellmore School District as the John Dinkelmeyer and Park Avenue elementary schools hosted fall festivals on Oct. 28. The events were held in partnership with the building PTAs, as teachers and parents worked together to ensure that children had an enjoyable time.

The Dinkelmeyer School’s fall festival included outdoor activities such as pumpkin decorating and relay races. Students learned fire safety as the North Bellmore Fire Department visited with a truck and its smokehouse for Fire Prevention Month. Inside, students decorated cupcakes and colored special “Fall Festival 2016” pillowcases. Students in fourth through sixth grade also made large scarecrows.

Park Avenue’s festival was held in the gym and included a mummy wrap, photo booth, pumpkin patch and bean bag toss. To test their math skills, students could guess the weight of a pumpkin and how many candy corn were in a jar.
