North Bellmore Students Create Pumpkins With Character
They celebrated Halloween this year with creative flair.

From Syntax: Students at Park Avenue Elementary School in the North Bellmore School District proudly displayed the pumpkins they created to look like storybook characters. The annual contest, run by librarian Phyllis Squicciarini, was open to all children in the school who were judged in two categories: I did it myself and I did it with help. The characters had to be from a story that was a book before it was a movie. The pumpkins reflected older tales such as “Charlotte’s Web” and “Beauty and the Beast” to more contemporary stories like “Junie B. Jones” and “Wonder.”
