Park Avenue Students Pen, Pack Holiday Cheer
To bring cheer to homeless veterans, students customized holiday cards.
BELLMORE, NY - From North Bellmore School District: To bring cheer to homeless veterans, students at Park Avenue Elementary School in the North Bellmore School District customized holiday cards. The initiative was spearheaded by third-grade parents who partnered with non-profit organization We the People United Corp. in Melville.
Children wrote personal messages to the veterans and decorated the cards with festive stickers. The handmade greeting cards were included in gift bags that students packed on Dec. 4 with clothing, batteries and personal hygiene items.
