Police: Drunk Westbury Woman Found Slumped Over in Driver's Seat With 3-Year-Old in Car

Police found Danielle Kalberer's car running with a wheel up on the curb in Williston Park Monday afternoon, authorities say.

A Westbury woman faces numerous charges, including a felony DWI charge, after she was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of her car in Williston Park while a 3-year-old was in the backseat on Monday afternoon, police said.

According to police, a Third Squad detective driving on Hillside Avenue was informed by a passing motorist of a possible intoxicated driver around 4:45 p.m.

The detective came upon a 2012 Toyota Camry stopped on the westbound side on Hillside Avenue with the front right wheel up on the curb and the engine running, police said.

Upon investigation the detective discovered the driver Danielle Kalberer, 34, slumped over in the driver’s seat and a 3-year-old girl secured in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle, police said.

Kalberer, who was then arrested, was also discovered to be in possession of a single prescription narcotic pill, police said. The child was released to a family member and no injuries were reported, police said.

Kalberer is charged with aggravated DWI with a child under 15–a felony under Leandra’s Law–seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of DWI and an additional count of aggravated DWI. She will be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
