Pool Chemicals Spill onto Roadway on Sunrise Highway
A cargo truck partially lost its load while driving on the highway in Bellmore on Tuesday afternoon.
BELLMORE, NY - Sunrise Highway in Bellmore was closed down on Tuesday afternoon after pool chemicals spilled onto the road.
Members of the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Division assisted the Bellmore Fire Department at the scene of an accident on Sunrise Highway near Newbridge Road.
A cargo vehicle carrying the chemicals partially lost its load causing several containers and packages to fall onto the roadway.

Haz-Mat quickly responded, examined the materials involved, then helped to secure them. There were no injuries reported.
Police shut down the eastbound lanes of the highway between Henry Street and Newbridge Road starting shortly before noon until about 1:40 p.m.
