School Vote 2018: Bellmore Budget And BOE Candidates
Here's everything you need to know before you head to the polls on May 15.

On Tuesday, May 15, Bellmore residents will have a chance to cast their ballots for the school district budget, Board of Education candidates and a ballot proposition.
The proposed budget for the 2018-19 school year for the Bellmore School District is $35.3 million, an increase of about $850,000 over the current spending plan. That comes with a tax levy increase of 3.32 percent, which is under the district's limit with the tax cap. According to the district, that comes out to a tax increase of $2.84 a week for the average home.
Residents will also have the opportunity to vote on a ballot proposition to create a capital reserve fund for the district. The money would be accrued over years and used to pay for any improvements or repairs the school buildings need. The fund wouldn't exceed $5.8 million accrued over 10 years.
