Sixth Graders Assist Thanksgiving Food Drive In Neighborhood

NORTH BELLMORE, NY — An annual holiday food drive at Newbridge Road Elementary School will benefit families in the community.

Dozens of boxes are filled with food items, including canned goods and pasta. Sixth graders have been helping sort the food and check expiration dates.

The food drive is partnership between the school and the PTA, whose members are creating packages for each family in time for Thanksgiving.

Sixth grader A.J. Navarro said of the altruistic project: "It feels right to give people food that don't have enough food."
