Sotomayor Visits Bald Vinny at Yankee Stadium

The supreme court justice visited the bleacher creatures last Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.

Sonia Sotomayor, an associate justice for the United States Supreme Court, visited the bleacher creatures at Yankee Stadium before last Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, including Bellmore resident "Bald" Vinny Milano.

The Bronx resident took a seat in Section 203, next to Milano, who was lost for words upon her arrival.

"The first thing I said to her was, 'I'm probably going to be the loudest guy you meet today, but I'm absolutely speechless,'" Milano told the Associated Press. "I don't think she knew before she got here what she was in for."

While she didn't stay for roll call, Sotomayor was given a creatures label pin membership badge for stopping by. She said that she will pass it on to her nephew for scrapbooking purposes.

She also attended the Yankees' game at the Washington Nationals on June 15. Before that, she threw out the ceremonial first pitch for a game against Boston at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 26, 2009. In 1995 as a U.S. District Judge, she issued an injunction that led to the end of a 7 1-2 month strike by the baseball players' union.

This is not the first noteable guest for the bleacher creatures, as Milano told Patch that Yankees' General Manager Brian Cashman, Brooklyn Nets Coach Avery Johnson, Cedric the Entertainer, David Baas, Antawn Jamison, Joanna Garcia-Swisher, Greg Grundberg, Nick Tutturo, Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA (both 2011 and 2012) all have stopped by.
