Stop & Shop donates 500 Easter Hams to Island Harvest and St. Barnabas the Apostle Food Pantry

Stop & Shop donated 500 Easter hams to Island Harvest and the St. Barnabas the Apostle Food Pantry in Bellmore to help the less fortunate. Arlene Putterman, Manager, Public and Community Relations, Stop & Shop's New York Metro Division; Randi Shubin Dresner, Executive Director of Island Harvest and Alice Witt of the St. Barnabas Food Pantry were joined by 25 fourth grade schoolchildren from Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton helped unload an 18-wheeler packed with the hams.
The donation is part of Stop & Shop’s continuing commitment to help local communities fight hunger and seeks to provide some relief to those in need this Easter.
Island Harvest Food Bank is a leading hunger-relief organization that provides food and other resources to people in need. Always treating those it helps with dignity and respect, its goal is to end hunger and reduce poverty on Long Island through efficient food collection and distribution; enhanced hunger-awareness and nutrition-education programs; job training; and direct services targeted at children, senior citizens, veterans and others at risk.
