Teen Stabbed In Chest After Fight Over Social Media Posts: Police

BREAKING: A 17-year-old was arrested after the stabbing in Nassau County Wednesday.

MERRICK, NY – A 17-year-old was arrested after he stabbed another teen who confronted him over posts on a social media site, Nassau Police said.

According to police, the victim went to Anthony Vas's home at 3137 S. Hewlett Ave. in Merrick Wednesday afternoon. An altercation ensued and Vas stabbed the 17-year-old victim in the chest, police said.

The victim, who police did not name, fled the scene and was transported to an area hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, police said. He is listed in stable condition.

Vas was placed under arrest at his home without incident. He is charged with first degree assault and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
