American Legion's Women's Auxiliary Hosts Holiday Fair
American Legion's Women's Auxiliary organizes fair in Bellmore to benefit Veterans of war.
American Legion's Women's Auxiliary hosted a holiday craft fair at North Bellmore American Legion Post 1749 on Nov. 6. The room was filled with homemade jewelry, baked goods, attic treasures, antiques and toys.
"We organized this to benefit Vietnam Veterans," said head coordinator Marie Kohler who was happy with the way things went. "We set up some tables and let the vendors do their thing."
Some vendors were also from local businesses, giving patrons a chance to learn about local establishments.

Mike Ciccone, a Merrick resident and business owner, set up his table for Giuseppe's catering. His table offered such baked treats as cupcakes, cookies, crumb cakes and other confections.
"I heard about this from Marie ... I've been a chef catering and running my business since 2006," Ciccone said.

Gina Lutzky, of Gina's Party Creations, was showcasing her homemade chocolates. Lutzky also prepares custom-made centerpieces and candle lighting boards. Her attendance at the fair was a no-brainer. "This fair is for a great cause," she said. "... I've been creating [items] for two years now."
Patrons were able to shop for holiday goodies, have some lunch and even partake in a raffle. Gifts ranged from antique china to mini-Christmas trees to add cheer to anyone's home.
"It's a very nice fair to browse for gifts," Merrick resident Lynn Mary said. "I wish they were in a bigger space so they could have even more stuff on display. I love the crafts."
The fair will likely be an annual event, with all proceeds going to a good cause.
"This is the first time we are doing it and we are doing pretty well." Kohler said. "We will certainly do it again next year!"
