UFC Middleweight Contenter to Train in Bellmore

Constantinos Philippou will take his workouts to the Bellmore Kickboxing Academy.

UFC middleweight fighter Constantinos Philippou has decided to start training at the Bellmore Kickboxing Academy, according to MMAMania.com.

Philippou had been training with East Meadow native Matt Serra, but he decided to make the change "to help advance his career to the next level."

"He is deeply appreciative of everything that both Matt Serra and Ray Longo have done for him," Manager Lex McMahon told MMA Fighting. "However, Costa felt he needed a change to advance his career to the next level.

Philippou (12-2-1 NC) is currently ranked sixth in the UFC middleweight division, and since losing in his UFC debut, has reeled off five straight wins.

Serra holds no animosity with Philippou's decision to change affiliations.

"It's all good," Serra said. "It's all friendly, but he's just not going to be carrying the Serra-Longo flag anymore, for sure. I wish him nothing but the best for his career."
