Person Pointing Loaded Gun Into Traffic Hit By Officer's Car: PD

Kiber Calderon, of Brooklyn, faces multiple charges, including menacing and criminal possesion of a weapon, police said.

NORTH BELLMORE, NY — A person was taken into custody in North Bellmore on Tuesday afternoon after wielding a gun at passing cars and police, authorities said.

Police received numerous calls about someone pointing a gun into traffic.

Kiber Calderon, 31, of Brooklyn, who also goes by Hanna Carillo, 33, was seen pointing a black and silver handgun, police said.

Video showed Calderon standing in the roadway between Jerusalem Avenue and Bellmore Avenue. An officer struck Calderon with the squad car's front passenger side, causing the suspect to fall to the ground with the loaded weapon, police said.

Calderon was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The officer was hospitalized with trauma.

Calderon faces charges that include three counts of third-degree menacing, two counts of menacing a police officer, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Calderon will be arraigned when medically practical.

Calderon was previously arrested in New York City on June 8 for first-degree burglary and on June 9 for second-degree burglary and trespassing.
