To celebrate and honor the life and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., fourth-graders in Phinola Baeza’s class at Bellmore’s Winthrop Avenue School participated in a peaceful celebration.

The students drew and colored peace signs and encircled them with messages of peace in recognition of Dr. King. The students also discussed the negative effects of segregation and the unfairness of society during the time of the civil rights movement.
