Woman Killed in High Speed Crash on Southern State: Police

The single-car crash occurred early Sunday morning, police say.

NORTH BELLMORE, NY - A 28-year-old woman was killed in a single-car crash on the Southern State Parkway early Sunday morning, State Police said.

According to police, Stephanie Francois was driving a 2010 Chevrolet west on the Southern State at a "at a high rate of speed" when she lost control of the vehicle and overturned on the north shoulder as she was approaching Exit 25N–Newbridge Road at about 12:35 a.m.

Francois, of Central Islip, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was inside the car.
