Today's riddle: What do you call a one-legged Big Foot? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Annual Fall Open Farm Day Scheduled for October 3rd (wicz.com) — Binghamton-area families can spend October 3 exploring 15 local farms and agri-businesses during Cornell Cooperative Extension's Fall Open Farm Day, including Apple Hills and Mallory's Meadows in Binghamton. From apple picking and corn mazes to baby goat cuddles, tastings, and kids' activities, visitors collect passport stamps for a chance at farm-donated prizes.
2. Binghamton Diesel Fuel Prices Hit All-Time High (wnbf.com) — Diesel prices in the Binghamton area have hit a record average of $6.58 per gallon, with some nearby stations charging even more, and further increases expected. Gasoline is also climbing, now averaging $4.49 locally, putting extra pressure on commuters, small trucking firms, and anyone relying on fuel for work or travel.
3. Part of Taylor Rental to close following owner retirement (binghamtonhomepage.com) — A longtime local staple, the tool and equipment side of Taylor Rental of Binghamton on Upper Front Street in the Town of Chenango is closing as co-owner David Young retires. He's selling off remaining inventory through October, while his sister plans to keep the party rental side and T-R Events space operating for another year or two.
4. 8 Binghamton Coffee Shops Worth Celebrating on National Coffee Day (wnbf.com) — Coffee lovers in and around Binghamton get a handy guide to eight well-reviewed local cafés, from downtown spots like Strange Brew and Otto Coffee Roasters to neighborhood favorites on the South Side and in Johnson City and Vestal. Drawing on recent Yelp feedback, it highlights where locals go for quality brews, cozy atmospheres, and hearty breakfasts on National Coffee Day and beyond.
5. Broken carousels lead to postponement of convention (binghamtonhomepage.com) — Greater Binghamton will now host the National Carousel Association convention in 2028 instead of next year, giving local officials more time to repair several historic carousels. With only two of Broome County's six carousels currently operating, organizers hope the Vestal ride and others will be restored in time to showcase the region's "Carousel Capital of the World" heritage to visiting enthusiasts.
