19-Year-Old Man Stabbed Mother To Death During Fight: Police

The man and his mother were arguing while sitting in a parked car Sunday morning when he allegedly stabbed her to death, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A Brentwood man is being accused of stabbing his mother to death on Sunday morning, according to Suffolk County Police.

Akcel Arriaza and his mother, Dora Villatoro-Arriaza, were "having a dispute" while sitting in a parked car in front of their home on Adams Avenue, police said. During the argument, 19-year-old Arriaza stabbed his 46-year-old mother at 6:07 a.m., police said.

Villatoro-Arriaza was pronounced dead at the scene. Villatoro-Arriaza’s husband and three other children were inside the home at the time of the stabbing and were not injured.

Arriaza was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the stabbing, police said. He was then arrested and charged with second degree murder, police said.

He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
