BRENTWOOD, NY — A Brentwood man was arrested Tuesday and accused of shooting another man in the neck during a backyard barbecue on Father's Day last month, Suffolk County police said.
A 35-year-old man was involved in an altercation at a home on Ellery Street at about 8:04 p.m. June 21 when he was shot in the neck, police said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and later released, according to police.
Third Squad detectives identified Jose Quezada, 30, as the suspected shooter during their investigation, police said.
Quezada was taken into custody in Washington Heights, Manhattan, at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday by members of the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, authorities said.
He was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Quezada was scheduled to be held overnight at the Third Precinct before his arraignment Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
