BRENTWOOD, NY — New York State Sen. Monica Martinez will host a free back-to-school backpack and school supply distribution event in Brentwood on Saturday.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at St. Anne's Knights of Columbus, 96 Second Ave. in Brentwood.
Students will be able to receive free backpacks and school supplies. The event will also feature free barber services, live music, games, food and other activities.
Organizers said more than 1,200 students received backpacks and school supplies through last year's event and a similar turnout is expected this year.
The event is free, but advance registration is required. Families can register by calling 800-355-1234.
