Brentwood Taxi Driver Busted With 37 License Suspensions: Police

A traffic stop on Suffolk Avenue revealed the 51-year-old driver's license had been suspended 37 times, police said.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A taxi driver was arrested Monday after Suffolk County police said officers discovered he had 37 license suspensions.

Third Precinct Officers Peter Leonello and Anthony Reyes-Torres were conducting directed traffic enforcement at high-crash locations when they stopped a 2016 Toyota Camry on Suffolk Avenue at about 10:19 a.m., police said.

The Camry, which was operating as a taxi for Crown Cars Service, was pulled over after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign, according to police.

A subsequent check found that the driver, Dwight Douglas, 51, of Brentwood, had 37 license suspensions, police said.

Douglas was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and was issued several vehicle and traffic law violations, according to police.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
