Baby Born On Long Island Expressway, Delivered By Police And Paramedics
The baby girl and her mother were taken in good condition to South Shore University Hospital.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A baby girl was born overnight in a vehicle on the shoulder of the Long Island Expressway, according to authorities.
Officers responded to a 911 call of a woman in labor in a vehicle on the expressway’s westbound right shoulder around 2 a.m. Sunday near Exit 53 in Brentwood, Suffolk County police said.
When they arrived, the officers found Amy Steinberg, 36, in labor in the backseat, accompanied by her husband, Ian, according to authorities. Sgt. Justin Carey and officers Kenneth Bunger, Matthew Siesto and Arnold Reyes delivered the baby shortly after 2:30 a.m. with the assistance of paramedics from Brentwood Legion Ambulance, authorities said.

Steinberg, of Woodbury, and her daughter were taken in good condition to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, according to authorities.
