Bay Shore Woman Killed In Early-Morning Crash: Police

The woman was struck on Third Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, Suffolk police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A 29-year-old Bay Shore woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Brentwood, Suffolk County police said.

Ileana Cabrera was in the eastbound lane of Third Avenue near Second Street when she was struck by a 2009 Nissan at about 1:10 a.m., police said.

Cabrera was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The Nissan’s driver, 26, of Bay Shore, was not injured, according to police.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating the crash.
