Brentwood HS Student Earns 'Commended Student' Designation

The Brentwood Union Free School District (BUFSD) is proud to announce that Javier Garcia, a student at the Brentwood High School Sonderling Center, earned the “Commended Students” designation by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Students who receive this distinction represent a valuable resource in their classrooms and are recognized for their accomplishments and their pivotal role in their school’s academic success.

“On behalf of the Board of Education and central office, it brings us great pride to celebrate Javier Garcia on this remarkable achievement,” said Mr. Richard Loeschner, Superintendent of Brentwood Union Free School District. “Javier showcases remarkable academic promise and hard work, reflecting the guidance of his teachers and the support of his peers. I am inspired by his diligence and outstanding accomplishments which exemplify the best qualities of our classrooms.”
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognizes about 34,000 students as Commended Students for their successes on their PSAT, an exam to help measure academic prowess and prepare students for their future SAT exams. Javier Garcia scored a 1420 on his PSAT last year out of a possible 1520, securing his spot amongst these distinguished students.
