Cadets from Brentwood High School's Air Force JROTC program volunteered to serve meals to veterans at American Legion Post 1006.

BRENTWOOD, NY — Cadets from Brentwood High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) NY-773 “Fighting Falcons” recently took their commitment to service beyond the classroom, volunteering after school to serve meals to veterans and their families at American Legion Post 1006.
The service project helped cadets fulfill a unit community service goal while reinforcing key principles of the AFJROTC program, including citizenship, leadership and community engagement.
During the event, cadets assisted with distributing meals and spent time speaking with veterans, offering their appreciation for the men and women who have served the country.

Cadet Lt. Col. Jalline Guevara, who also serves as the Brentwood Board of Education’s ex-officio student board member, helped organize the initiative and secured sponsorship from Chick-fil-A to support the food donation.
AFJROTC instructors said the experience gave cadets the opportunity to demonstrate respect and gratitude while fulfilling an important component of the program’s mission to develop responsible citizens and leaders.
