Brentwood Man Among Injured In Five-Car Crash
The crash was caused by a man who was driving drunk and high on Friday night, police say.

HAUPPAUGE, NY - Two people were seriously injured in a five-car crash in Hauppauge on Friday night, according to Suffolk Police.
Charles Healy, 56, of West Islip was driving a 2010 Dodge Pickup eastbound on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) between exits 56 and 57 when his vehicle struck a 2016 Mazda rental car at 11:52 p.m., police said.
The crash caused the driver of the Mazda, 54-year-old Jerzy Grochowicz, of Ontario to crash the vehicle into a 2017 Subaru being operated by 25-year-old Brian Garcia, of Brentwood whose vehicle then struck a 2017 Jeep driven by 45-year-old Eric Veilleux, of Medford whose vehicle in turn crashed into a 2016 Subaru driven by 58-year-old Siobhan Atkinson of Hauppauge, police said.

Jerzy, and his wife Malgorzata Grochowicz, 55, who was a passenger in the Mazda, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where they were both treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Garcia was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Healy was transported to St. Catherine of Sienna Medical Center in Smithtown for treatment of minor injuries and released, police said
Veilleux and Atkinson refused medical treatment at the scene.
Healy was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by the combination of drugs and alcohol, police said.
The investigation is continuing, and three of the vehicles, the 2010 Dodge, 2016 Mazda, and 2017 Subaru, were impounded for safety checks.
