Brentwood Passenger Killed After Car Crashes Into Median: Police

A 37-year-old woman was killed in the single-car crash early Tuesday, police say.

COMMACK, NY - A passenger was killed after a car crashed into the median on the Sunken Meadow Parkway on Tuesday morning, according to State Police.

At about 2:38 a.m., a blue 2007 Honda Civic left the roadway while on the southbound Sunken Meadow Parkway sound of Jericho Turnpike in Commack, and struck several trees in the center median.

The only passenger, 37-year-old Maria Garcia, of Brentwood, was transported to Saint Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, where she succumed to her injuries.

The driver of the car suffered no apparent injuries as a result of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges have not been filed at this time. The State Police are requesting that anyone who may have information concerning this incident to please call (631) 756-3300.
