Brentwood Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Hit By Car

The 80-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street when he was struck by a car on Thursday night.

BAY SHORE, NY - A male pedestrian was criticially injured after being struck by a car in Bay Shore on Thursday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Robert Whitney, 69, of Islip was driving a 2016 Mazda SUV westbound on Union Boulevard between 1st and 2nd Avenue when his vehicle struck the pedestrian who was crossing Union Boulevard from the south to north side on foot at 9:35 p.m.

The pedestrian, 80-year-old Jorge Claros-Moisa, of Brentwood was transported by Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition.

Whitney remained at the scene and was not injured.
