Brentwood School Employee Accused of Sexual Abuse Allegations: PD

A Brentwood School District employee is currently under investigation after an alumni's accusations of previous sexual abuse, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A Brentwood School District employee is under investigation and has been reassigned, after a former student's accusations of sexual abuse, according to a letter addressed to the community.

In a statement written by superintendent Richard Loeschner and Board of Education President Robert Feliciano, the district recently received an anonymous letter from an alumnus, accusing a "district staff member" of past sexual abuse.

Suffolk County Police confirmed with Patch that they are currently investigating the allegations.

The employee was also reassigned to not work directly with children, "pending the outcome" of the investigation, the district said.

"Child abuse in any form, especially that of a sexual nature, should be exposed and individuals proven to engage in such actions must be held accountable to the maximum extent allowed
by law," the letter stated. "There should be zero tolerance."

The letter also went onto state that abuse can occur on or off a school campus, and that staff, parents/guardians, students and community members are responsible for reporting that abuse.

"We want to send a clear message, that our resolve is to ensure our schools are safe for each and every student at every moment they are in our care," the letter stated.

The allegations come two months after Attorney General Letitia James launched an investigation into the Babylon School District, after dozens of alumni accused employees of sexual abuse.
