Brentwood SD Commemorates Legacy Of Retiring Musical Director
The district recently celebrated the celebrated the incredible 32-year legacy of the district's musical director, Edwin Callaghan.

Brentwood, NY—The Brentwood Union Free School District (BUFSD) recently celebrated the incredible 32-year legacy of the district’s musical director, Mr. Edwin Callaghan. At the district’s recent musical, Once Upon this Island, several students, alumni, and community members gathered in the high school’s auditorium to honor one of Brentwood’s finest.

“Throughout Mr. Callaghan’s 32 years in the district he has been a tremendous asset to our students, staff, and families in the Brentwood community,” said Mr. Richard Loeschner, superintendent of Brentwood Union Free School District. “Not only has Mr. Callaghan put on outstanding theatre performances for his audiences but he transcends music for his students by teaching important life lessons on hard work and dedication. We are grateful for Mr. Callaghan’s many years in the district and the inspiring impact he has had on every student his life has touched. We wish him the best on his future endeavors.”
After the musical finished, Mr. Callaghan was warmly welcomed onto the stage where current and former students of his recognized him for the incredible teacher he was and all that he contributed to their lives. Mr. Callaghan was presented with a bouquet of flowers and students took the mic to pay tribute and recount fond memories as Mr. Callaghan’s students. Afterwards, Mr. Callaghan gave a parting speech marked with gratitude for the Brentwood Union Free School District, the rewarding job of being a teacher in the district, and most importantly, the students.
