Oak Park Elementary School Kicks off Read Across America Day with Dr. Seuss' Birthday

(Brentwood Union Free School District)

Brentwood, N.Y. (March 2020)—Oak Park Elementary School in Brentwood kicked off National Read Across America Week with a birthday celebration for beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss. The week, organized to promote literacy among young students, encouraged students to share their favorite books with their peers, hone their creative thinking, and express their joy for books, arts and crafts, and Dr. Seuss.

The National Education Association’s Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that encourages children in the community to celebrate reading. In the timeless words of Dr. Seuss, “the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
