Brentwood Announces Participation in Summer Food Service Program
Brentwood Union Free School District announces meals to be provided without charge to children 18 and under over summer months

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (June 21, 2018) – Brentwood Union Free School District announced today it will participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) beginning June 25 through August 10. The SFSP program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, aims to feed breakfast and lunch to all children 18 years and younger, even after the school year is over.
“It’s important to the District that we ensure our students have the nutritional support they need, during the school year and throughout the summer months,” said Brentwood Union Free School District Superintendent, Richard Loeschner. “Participating in the SFSP program, which provides meals free of charge, helps us accomplish this goal.”
On Long Island, 90,000 children rely on free or reduced cost school lunches as their primary source of nourishment. With the assistance of the Brentwood Union Free School District and other school districts, the SFSP will help to serve over 9,000 children across Long Island during the summer months.
