Central Islip High School Student Posts Snapchat Photo With Weapon: Police

The photo also included a note that said "don't come on Friday," police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - A Central Islip High School student posted a picture on Snapchat of a weapon last Thursday, according to Suffolk Police.

The student posted the photo with a note that read "don't come on Friday," police said.

Officers investigated and determined it was an airsoft gun which police seized.

The student told police he had no intention of hurting anyone and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Superintendent Dr. Howard Koenig said in a statement that the Central Islip School District became aware of the social media posting with the photo of the airsoft gun and by 11:a.m. the District and Suffolk County authorities determined that the threat was "not viable."
