Central Islip School District: The Alfano School Community Observes Hispanic Heritage Culture

The Alfano Elementary School Community is coming together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. By engaging in educationally focused activities, students are learning about the rich history of this culture. In her daily morning announcements, Alfano Elementary Principal, Ms. Carmen Vazquez, delivers quotes from famous role models of Hispanic descent whose professions include a Supreme Court Justice, an Astronaut, entertainers, artists, writers and individuals of other notable professions. A series of bulletin boards throughout the hallways of Alfano are adorned in artistic creations that have been designed by students, under the direction of Art Teacher, Ms. Victoria Ingram. Depicted in this slide show are students in Ms. Jilian Siracusa's 4th Grade class very proudly showcasing their research projects, with Ms. Vazquez, Ms. Ingram and Ms. Siracusa.
