A
solemn tribute was held on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 to remember
those who lost their lives during the terror attacks. The ceremony was
held at the War Memorial Stones on the front lawn of the Alfano School.

Mr.
Kevin McCarroll, (Central Islip Fire Department), tolled the bell, as
Mr. Norman A. Wagner, (Sons of the American Legion), read the names of
each of the 9/11 victims from Central Islip, Islandia, Hauppauge,
Brentwood and neighboring communities. Those who perished during the
recent attack at Kabul Airport were also remembered.
Members
of the Hamlet of Central Islip and neighboring communities joined
members of the Central Islip Memorial Day Parade Committee,
Herold-Tierney American Legion Post #1039, Anna Gilpin Post Commander;
Our Lady of Fatima Assembly (0716), SK Paul DiOrio Faithful Navigator,
Knights of Columbus; Knights of Columbus Councils: Assumption Council
(6262) Islip Terrace; St. Thomas More/Fr. Midura Council (6062)
Hauppauge; Shrine of St. Anne Council (4757) Brentwood; the Suffolk
Chapter, and Suffolk Conference, Knights of Columbus, in
the ceremony so that we will never forget the victims of 9/11, their
families, and the heroes who saved so many lives on that fateful day.

Central
Islip High School Senior and Trumpeter, Mr. Emmanuel Akintola,
performed taps, (under the direction of High School Band Teacher, Mr.
Jeremiah Ryan), marking the close of the special ceremony.
