Students throughout the Central Islip School District are learning age-appropriate lessons about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the legacy he left upon his generation, those that followed, and those yet to come. Students in Ms. Geldmacher's fifth grade class in Mulligan Elementary School are learning about Dr. King's contributions to the American civil rights movement in the 1960's, as they answer questions about his famous speeches and marches that have become a part of our nation's history. Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
