Central Islip Woman Drove Drunk With 7-Year-Old Girl In Car: SCPD

The 43-year-old was pulled over after she was spotted failing to maintain her lane while driving on the LIE, police say.

DIX HILLS, NY - A Central Islip woman was arrested for driving drunk with a 7-year-old girl in the car in Dix Hills early Monday, according to Suffolk Police.

Santos Lopez-Chacon was driving a 2005 Toyota Highlander eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when a Highway Patrol officer saw the car failing to maintain its lane of travel at 3:46 a.m. and initiated a traffic stop, police said.

Cocepcion Escobar, 40, of Central Islip, and his 7-year-old daughter were passengers in the Toyota.

Lopez-Chacon, 43, was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger under Leandra's Law, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest, police said.

The 7-year-old was released to her father at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Lopez-Chacon was held at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
