Dump Truck Flips, Spills Debris On LIE After Crash: PD

A sedan rear-ended the truck, causing it to flip on the expressway on Sunday night, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A dump truck flipped and spilled debris on the Long Island Expressway after being rear-ended into a median on Sunday night, according to Suffolk Police.

The dump truck travelling westbound on the LIE near Exit 53 was struck from behind by a sedan at about 9:35 p.m.

The dump truck struck the divider, flipped over and came to a stop on the median between the expressway and Express Drive North.

The right lane of the expressway was closed for an hour in order to remove the truck and clear debris from the roadway.

No serious injuries were reported.
