LI Day Care Owner Charged With Sexual Abuse: Police
The Office of Family and Child Services shut down the day care center following the arrest of the 56-year-old on Friday, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - The owner of a Brentwood day care facility was arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually abusing a child who attended the day care, according to Suffolk Police.
Jose Flores, the co-owner of Little Sponges Family Day Care on 3 1st Street, is accused of sexually abused a 7-year-old girl earlier this year, police said.
Following an investigation by Special Victims Section detectives, he was arrested and charged with first degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Flores was transferred to a hospital for treatment of a prior medical condition.

He is expected to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim of Flores to contact the Special Victims Section through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
