LI Father Gets 16 Years For Sexually Abusing Daughter For Years: DA
The man abused his daughter beginning when she was 6, prosecutors say.
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A 46-year-old man was sentenced to 16 years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to sexually abusing his daughter for years in Central Islip, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
The man is not being named to protect the identity of the child victim, prosecutors said.
The man pleaded guilty on April 29 to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a Class B violent felony, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen Wilutis, Tierney’s office said.

According to court documents and the man’s admissions during his guilty plea, the abuse began in January 2014, when the girl was 6 years old, prosecutors said. The abuse continued for years and happened when other family members were not home or when the rest of the household was sleeping, prosecutors said.
On Aug. 5, 2025, days after the last incident of sexual abuse, the victim told her brother and mother about the abuse, prosecutors said. Her mother contacted police, and the man was arrested the next day, prosecutors said.

Wilutis sentenced the man to 16 years in prison, followed by 20 years of post-release supervision, Tierney’s office said. He will also be required to register as a sex offender, prosecutors said. He was represented by Scott Zerner, who was not immediately available for comment.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has lodged a detainer to take custody of the man, a native of El Salvador, after the prosecution, prosecutors said.
“A father is supposed to protect his child. Period,” Tierney said. “This defendant repeatedly betrayed that responsibility for years, and today’s sentence holds him accountable for the harm he caused. I thank the victim for bravely coming forward and testifying under such difficult circumstances.”
