LI Man Sentenced To 20 Years To Life For String of Burglaries: DA
A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison on Friday, for burglarizing a string of Brentwood homes, the DA says.
BRENTWOOD, NY — A Brentwood man was sentenced Friday to 20 years to life in prison for a string of burglaries and attempted burglaries of residences in his own neighborhood, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
Suffolk County Court Judge Timothy Mazzei sentenced Kevin Garrsion, 38, of Brentwood, to 20 years to life for four counts of burglary in the second degree, 16 years to life for attempted burglary in the second degree, and 30 days for criminal trespass in the third degree, Tierney said.
According to trial evidence, on August 30, 2020, at about 5 a.m., a female resident of a Monroe Avenue home reported that she awoke to find Garrison standing over her bed with his shorts undone. He immediately ran out of the house when he realized she was awake, officials said.

Later that morning at a home on Brentwood Parkway, another female resident walked into her bedroom while brushing her teeth and caught Garrison climbing through the bedroom window, Tierney said. The victim screamed and Garrison fled, officials said.
On September 18, 2020 at about 3 a.m., Garrison went to a residence on Oak Street and moved the accordion sleeve of an air conditioner aside, prosecutors said. Garrison reached into the bedroom window to steal a purse while a woman slept in bed with her granddaughter, officials said.

At about 4:45 a.m., he returned to the same residence on Monroe Avenue that he had previously burglarized, prosecutors said. However, the family had a stick placed in the window, which prevented Garrison from entering, Tierney said. The family also had installed a surveillance camera after his previous entry, and he was captured on film attempting to burglarize the house, Tierney said.
At about 5:40 a.m., Garrison went to a residence on Adams Avenue, prosecutors said. While a female slept in the room, Garrison committed a fourth burglary by moving the sleeve to the air conditioning unit aside, reaching into the room and taking trophies from the dresser below the window, officials said.
Finally, Garrison ended his spree that morning at about 5:45 a.m., when he returned to the same Brentwood Parkway residence in Brentwood that he had also previously burglarized, and walked up the driveway, officials said. Garrison walked around the house, looked into windows, evidence said, but could not find an easy point of entry. He then left on his bicycle, Tierney said. The entire incident was caught on surveillance video, Tierney said.
Garrsion was arrested that same day, officials said, and was convicted after trial and found guilty on Dec. 14, 2021, Tierney said.
“This defendant invaded the sanctity of his victims’ homes and victimized two women even further by returning to their residences after they had previously thwarted his initial burglary attempts,” said Tierney. “This sentence ensures that he will no longer prey on his victims or victimize others. I am committed to making sure that the residents of Suffolk County feel safe in their own homes and that swift justice is handed down to those who violate the law.”
All sentences are to run concurrent to one another; the judge issued permanent orders of protection for all civilian witnesses, Tierney said.
