LI Man Sentenced To Prison For Raping Woman: DA

The 52-year-old lured the woman to his home by pretending to be a TV producer/director looking for an actress, the DA said.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A Brentwood man was sentenced on Tuesday to 18 years in prison for raping a woman in his home while pretending to be a television producer/director in 2018, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini.

Patrice Germain, 52, was convicted after a bench trial of first degree rape, first degree criminal sexual act, three counts of first degree sexual abuse and criminal obstruction of breathing.

In June 2018, Germain had contacted the victim claiming that he was producing and directing a television series and was looking for actresses, singers and dancers, the DA said. He arranged to meet the victim and bring her to his home, which he claimed to be his production studio.

After Germain picked the victim up at the airport, he became hostile toward her and refused to bring her to the hotel where she was staying. Instead, he brought her to his house and forcibly raped her, sexually abused her and choked her.

As a result of the attack, the victim suffered from multiple injuries, including internal bleeding and numerous bruises, lacerations and abrasions.

Germain was convicted last November by Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro after a bench trial. The trial lasted three weeks and registered as a sex offender at the time of his conviction. Then he was sentenced on Tuesday by Ambro to prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.

"This is a depraved individual who preyed upon the victim by exploiting her aspirations," Sini said. "He lured her to his home under false pretenses then brutally raped her. Thanks to the hard work of Assistant District Attorney Anne E. Oh and the Major Crime Bureau, this sexual predator is facing a significant prison sentence and justice has been served for the victim."
