BRENTWOOD, NY — A new nonprofit founded by a local resident is working to bring moments of joy and relief to people going through difficult times.

JoyFund INC is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting mental health in a unique way — by helping fund meaningful, joyful experiences for people who may be struggling emotionally.

Rather than traditional forms of assistance, JoyFund believes that positive experiences can play a powerful role in improving emotional well-being. These experiences can include things like art classes, outdoor activities, creative workshops, or other moments that allow people to reconnect with happiness and purpose.

The organization was founded by Brentwood residents Corey Shelowitz and Diana Marini, who created JoyFund with a simple mission: to remind people that joy still exists, even during difficult moments.

“Sometimes what someone needs most is a moment to breathe, to feel hope again, or to reconnect with something they love,” Shelowitz said. “JoyFund exists to help make those moments possible.”

JoyFund recently funded its first joyful experience, marking the beginning of what the organization hopes will become a growing movement focused on emotional support through meaningful life experiences.

The nonprofit is currently working to partner with local organizations, mental health resources, and community members across Long Island to expand its reach and help more people.

JoyFund also shares daily inspiration and positive messages online to encourage people who may be struggling and to remind the community that they are not alone.

As the organization grows, Shelowitz hopes JoyFund will become a place where people can both give and receive moments of joy, strengthening the community through compassion and kindness.
