Long Island Lynx Captured

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — An exotic animal which was sighted multiple times on Long Island this week has been captured, Strong Island Animal Rescue confirmed with Patch.

Frank Floridia, president of Strong Island Animal Rescue, said that after working with police with in past several days, his organization found and rescued the animal at about 4 a.m. on Friday in the Central Islip area.

The cat, which is now a confirmed lynx, was safely taken to Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown, Floridia said.

The origins of the lynx is currently under police investigation.
