Man Charged With Robbery In Parking Lot Of Laundromat: Police
The 54-year-old was seen striking another man during the robbery early Saturday, police say.
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A Central Islip man was arrested in connection to a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of a Central Islip laundromat early Saturday, according to Suffolk Police.
Officers on a routine patrol in an unmarked police car saw 54-year-old Jerry McKoy striking 44-year-old Elias Ortiz-Campos, of Central Islip during a robbery by Laundry Palace on 18 E. Suffolk Avenue at 1:34 a.m., police said.
The officers intervened and arrested McKoy, police said. Ortiz-Campos was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

McKoy was charged with first degree robbery and for an outstanding warrant. He is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip in the morning.
