BRENTWOOD, NY — A man is dead after police said he was hit by a car in Brentwood on Friday. Suffolk County police said a 32-year-old woman was driving a 2021 Acura RDX northbound on Wicks Road when the vehicle hit a pedestrian in the roadway at the intersection of Merrill Street. The accident happened around 6:30 p.m., police said. The pedestrian, identified as 75-year-old Jose Cruz, of Brentwood, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Acura was not injured. Police said her vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information about the crash should contact Suffolk County detectives at 631-854-8352.
