Man Dies After Motorcycle Crashes Into Truck: PD

BRENTWOOD, NY — A man died after his motorcycle crashed into a truck in Brentwood on Tuesday night, Suffolk County Police said.

Wayne Smith, 47, of Brentwood, was riding a 2020 Suzuki motorcycle southbound on Wicks Road near Suffolk Avenue at 6:01 p.m., when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a southbound 2020 Freightliner, police said.

Smith was taken via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check, police said, and the truck was inspected at the scene by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section.
