Police ID Man Killed In Police-Involved Shooting In Brentwood
The 21-year-old displayed a handgun while running away from officers on Thursday night, Suffolk Police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - Emanuel Johnson III, 21, of Brentwood, has been identified as the man killed on Thursday in a police-involved shooting, according to Suffolk Police.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A man was killed in a police-involved shooting in Brentwood on Thursday night, according to Suffolk County Police. Two officers were on patrol in a marked police vehicle when they pulled over a car in the parking lot of the Brentwood Long Island Railroad Station at 10:20 p.m.
The driver ran away from the officers while carrying a backpack. The officers chased the man on foot eastbound on Suffolk Avenue to the backyard of a home on the street where they tried to deployed a Taser that was ineffective, police said.

The man then displayed a handgun, shots were fired, and the man was hit. The man, who has yet to be identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A handgun was recovered at the scene. The officers were not injured. The investigation is continuing.
