Missing Islandia Woman With Dementia Last Seen Walking Street: Police

Luz Giraldo, 65, was last seen on Wednesday morning walking on Sycora Lane in Islandia, Suffolk police say.

ISLANDIA, NY — Suffolk County police have issued a Silver Alert for a missing Islandia woman who has been showing signs of dementia, police said.

Luz Giraldo, 65, left her home at 36 Sycora Lane on Wednesday, March 18, and was last seen walking on Sycora Lane at about 8:30 a.m., according to Suffolk County police.

Giraldo is described as white, 5-foot-5, with brown eyes and brown hair, police said. She was last seen wearing a pink jacket.

Police said the Silver Alert was issued because Giraldo has special needs.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about Giraldo’s location to call 911 or Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
