Teen Driver, 2 Passengers Charged With Hit-And-Run Crash: SCPD
The teens were charged for the crash that injured an officer Friday night after they were involved in another crash Saturday, police say.

MEDFORD, NY - A driver and two passengers were arrested on Saturday night following a hit-and-run crash that injured a police officer in Brentwood, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers responded to a 911 call of a two-car crash in Medford and determined that 17-year-old Jaheem Funderburke was driving a 2018 Mazda 6 northbound on Gordon Road when his vehicle struck a 2001 Nissan, driven by a 42-year-old Medford woman, at the intersection of Granny Road at 6:45 p.m., police said.
Funderburke and two passengers in the Mazda, 18-year-old Kalithe Bell and 18-year-old Kenya Uceda, fled the scene on foot, police said.

Suffolk County Police Aviation Section and Canine Section responded to the scene.
Canine Section officers tracked the three to a wooded area south of Dourland Road, where they were arrested at 7:15 p.m., police said.
Funderburke was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was treated for minor injuries and released, police said. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.
Bell, of Bellport and Uceda, of Brentwood were charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Funderburke, of Medford, was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana in connection to last night’s incident.
He was also charged with second degree assault and first degree reckless endangerment in connection to the incident on Friday night when he struck a Suffolk County Police officer while driving the Mazda, and then fled the scene in the vehicle, police said.
He was also charged with a bench warrant for third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
He is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.

BRENTWOOD, NY - An officer was injured after a hit-and-run crash in Brentwood on Friday night, according to Suffolk Police.
A patrol officer was on foot responding to a call in front on Peterson Street when he was struck by a dark colored vehicle at 11:15 p.m.
The driver fled the scene, and a police pursuit ensued.
No suspects were apprehended. The vehicle was last seen heading northbound on Route 111.
The officer was treated at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
